Phone records

See a character's LB Phone numbers, calls and who they message, and with a second permission read their messages. Every look is recorded.

On this page

If your server runs LB Phone, staff you choose can see a character's in-game phone from the panel and the app: the numbers they hold, the calls they made and took, and who they message. With a second permission they can open a conversation and read it.

This is for looking into something that happened on your server: a threat, a scam, a robbery planned over text. It is read from your own game database at the moment somebody opens it, and FiveStaff does not keep a copy.

What you need#

  • LB Phone installed and its database tables in the same database FiveStaff reads. FiveStaff finds them on its own: there is nothing to switch on.
  • Your game database connected.

If your server does not run LB Phone, nothing about phones appears anywhere in FiveStaff.

Where to find it#

Open a character from Characters, then press Open their phone. In the app, open the character and tap Open their phone. Staff using the panel in game can reach it the same way through Full panel.

The phone page shows:

  • Numbers: each phone the character owns, and which one they have in use. A phone in use that somebody else set up says so.
  • The last 30 days: how many calls, how many were answered or missed, how long they talked, and how many messages they sent and received.
  • Who they call most and Who they message most. Each person is shown by their character's name where FiveStaff can match the number to one, otherwise by the name this character saved them under (marked saved as a contact), otherwise by the number.
  • Calls: every call, newest first, with who, when, which of their numbers and how long. A call where the caller hid their number is marked Number withheld. Staff still see the number, because your records are for finding out what happened; the setting only hid it from the person who was rung.
  • Conversations: who each one is with and when it last moved. Not a word of what was said is on this page.

With Read in-game phone messages, each conversation has a Read button that opens its messages. On the web panel, pictures sent over the phone are shown small; other attachments, and everything in the app, are links.

Permissions#

Two permissions, in the Framework group of the role editor. Neither is given to any role until you tick it, and you hold both as the owner.

Permission What it allows
See in-game phone records The phone page: numbers, calls, message counts, who they talk to and the list of conversations
Read in-game phone messages Opening a conversation and reading what was said. It works together with the permission above, never on its own

Both also need View framework data, which every character page needs.

Every look is recorded#

The audit log records:

  • Phone records seen: who opened a character's phone, and when. Opening it again within 15 minutes is not recorded twice.
  • Phone messages read: who read a conversation, whose phone it was on, which conversation and when. Every time, including each older page of it.

The entries say whose phone it was, never what was on it.

Tell your players#

Your players should know that staff can look at their in-game phone. Add a line to your server's rules, for example:

Staff may review in-game phone records, including calls and messages, when looking into a report or a breach of the rules.

Good to know#

  • The figures cover the last 30 days. The lists of calls and conversations go back as far as LB Phone has kept them.
  • What staff see is what LB Phone has in your database right now. A conversation a player deleted on their phone is still there, marked Deleted on their phone, for as long as LB Phone keeps it.
  • On a very busy server the call figures can take a moment to load, because LB Phone's call table is large and is not indexed by number.
